Kuwait Airport was first opened in 1927 – 1928 period, as a scale airport for flights to British India. It wasn’t until 00s that it went under major renovation and expansion works which incorporated features such as check-in areas, a multi-storey parking and a mall.

Nowadays, Terminal 2 is under construction – The project was announced in 2012 and it was expected to be ended by 2016. Due to some administrative problems, it was cancelled twice, finally, as on 2017, the project is estimated to be finalized in 2020.

Given the congestion in Terminal 1, the airport authorities just moved some flights to Sheikh Saad Terminal.

Kuwait airport terminal is able to handle 13 million passengers yearly.

The airport is currently composed by two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and the Sheikh Saad Terminal, which is a small terminal where scheduled flights are also hosted and features for its great service offer.

Airport lounges

Kuwait Airport terminals host a wide offer of lounges:

- Pearl Lounge Sheikh Saad: In the Sheikh Saad Terminal, the Pearl Lounge Sheikh Saad is only available for Fly Dubai International passengers. Opening hours: 24 hours. There are showers available. In order to access to it you need a priority pass.

- Kuwait Airways Dasman Lounge: Located in the airside of Terminal 1, just opposite gates 22 and 23. It is open 24 hours. The access fare is of KWD 12.00.

- Pearl Lounge: Also located in the airside of Terminal 1, opposite gate 2. Opening hours: 24 hours. In order to access to it you need a priority pass.

- Dasman Premier Lounge: It is located also in the airside of Terminal 1, after gate 26. Opening hours: 24 hours. Access fare is of KWD 6.00.
